Artists
Artists are exhibiting members of Camden Art Shoppes who maintain designated gallery space for the display and sale of their artwork. Artists are Independent Business Owners who pay for display space at Camden Art Shoppes.
Artists invest in Camden Art Shoppes through their artwork, monthly fees, participation, and contribution to the overall quality and variety of the gallery. CAS invests back into Artists by providing a professional retail and gallery environment, staffing, sales support, marketing, programming, community visibility, and opportunities to connect their work with customers.
We are not a Consignment shop or a Gallery that buys art. Camden Art Shoppes is an LLC who maintains the ownership of the Gallery. We are a successful venue for Artists to call home.
Here is how Camden Art Shoppes invests in you.:
- Promoting and selling your artwork through CAS’s current marketing and communication channels.
- Creating unique CAS and artist-specific videos that showcase the gallery, individual artists, their creative processes, and their artwork. These videos provide additional opportunities to introduce artists to customers, tell their stories, highlight new work, and expand their visibility through CAS marketing channels.
- Providing packaging materials, including bags, tissue paper, and protective paper for artwork sold through the gallery.
- Gift wrapping artwork with ribbon when requested by the customer.
- Maintaining your gallery presence by replacing artwork on your wall after a piece sells.
- Actively managing display space, including relocating artwork to another wall when appropriate to improve visibility or address slow sales.
- Connecting commission opportunities with artists whose work and skills best fit the customer’s request.
- Reviewing sales daily and researching and correcting transaction errors when necessary.
- Managing specialized sales in evieApp, including group items, auction artwork, multi-artist items, and classes.
- Creating website posts to promote classes and special events.
- Processing monthly artist payments and preparing artist checks.
- Collecting, reporting, and paying applicable sales tax on gallery sales.
- Maintaining the physical gallery, including utilities and necessary maintenance and operating supplies.
- Maintaining sales counter, business operations 5 days a week and compliance with applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
These services represent an ongoing investment by CAS in creating a professional environment where artists can focus more of their time on creating their work.
Artist Fee
Monthly fees are based on the amount of gallery space selected by the Artist.
The monthly fee consists of a $30 base fee plus $10 for each foot of space. Artists that started before March 2026, have a base fee of $25.
“Some artists are grandfathered into previous rates based on their original start date with CAS. We are committed to keeping fees as low as possible for as long as possible, however CAS offers no guarantee on the longevity of these special rates. Please note that grandfathered rates apply to continuous membership only — a break in membership will result in current rates applying upon return.”

Your Investment at CAS
Your monthly fee is more than payment for display space. It is your investment in your artwork, creativity, and participation. CAS invests those resources back into the gallery and its artists.
Artists do not have regular clerk responsibilities unless they choose to be a Studio Artist. (see Below)
A Shared Investment
Together, these investments allow CAS to operate not simply as a place to hang artwork, but as a professional creative marketplace that supports artists, serves customers, and strengthens the arts within our community. Artists are expected to maintain a family environment with respect for each artist.
CAS Requirements
- A one-time set up fee: $20 for online portal fee
- 20% commission on all sales. Members before March 2026 is 15% commission
- Artists receive 80% of all art sales. Members before March 2026 receives 85% of all art sales.
Teaching Classes
• Classroom and event coordination rate: 10% per student fee. (Includes on-site and off-site class events)
Convenience fees at your request (Each fee is per occurrence)
- Framing assistance (reusable frames, mats, fixing inappropriate wiring): $5-30
- Wall refresh request if you are unable to update your wall: $20
- Checks: Mailing: $10. Researching/Reissuing lost checks: $25
- Artist Portal Password Retrieval assistance: $10. Tip: use forget password option to reset password for free.
Late Fees (per occurrence)

Studio Artists
Studio Artists have an expanded role within Camden Art Shoppes. In addition to exhibiting and selling their work, Studio Artists are active participants in the operation and success of the gallery.
Studio Artists help provide the consistent presence needed to keep CAS open and welcoming to the public. Their role includes serving as gallery clerks, assisting customers, supporting sales, helping maintain the appearance and function of the gallery, and serving as representatives of Camden Art Shoppes to visitors and the community.
Being a Studio Artist is therefore more than having additional display space. It represents a greater investment and partnership with CAS. Studio Artists invest their time, artwork, participation, and monthly fees into the gallery. CAS invests back into Studio Artists through additional gallery space, visibility, marketing, sales support, programming, and community exposure.
Participation in the Studio Artist Match Program is required for all Studio Artists. Studio Artists must maintain a minimum of 4 feet of paid gallery space and fulfill the work commitment associated with their Match percentage.
Studio Artist Fee
Studio Artists receive a $5 monthly reduction in their regular space fee in recognition of their contribution to gallery operations.
Monthly investment fees are calculated according to the artist’s applicable rate based on their original start date:
- Artists beginning before March 1, 2026: $25 base fee + $10 per foot of paid space, less the $5 Studio Artist reduction.
- Artists beginning March 1, 2026 or later: $30 base fee + $10 per foot of paid space, less the $5 Studio Artist reduction.
Studio Artist Match Program
The Match Program is a required component of being a Studio Artist at Camden Art Shoppes. It recognizes the investment of time Studio Artists make in helping operate the gallery and connects that time commitment directly to additional gallery space.
Each Studio Artist participates at a Match percentage based on their work commitment. CAS matches the artist’s time investment with additional gallery space.
The Match percentage corresponds directly to the percentage of additional space earned. Matched space is provided in addition to the artist’s paid space and is not included when calculating the monthly investment fee.
How the Match Works

Example: 4 Feet of Paid Space
Because Studio Artists maintain a minimum of 4 paid feet, the Match would work as follows:

For example, a Studio Artist who pays for 4 feet and works one day every other week participates at the required minimum 25% Match. CAS adds 1 foot of matched space, giving the artist 5 feet of total display space while the artist pays the investment fee on only 4 feet.
A Studio Artist working one day each week participates at a 50% Match and receives 2 additional feet, for 6 feet total.
At a 100% Match, working two days each week, 4 paid feet are matched with 4 additional feet for 8 feet total.
At a 150% Match, working three days each week, the artist earns 6 additional feet for 10 feet total.
Shared Investment Studio Artists
The Match Program recognizes that investment in Camden Art Shoppes is not limited to money. Time has value. Participation has value. Space has value.
Studio Artists make a financial investment through their paid gallery space and a time investment through their required work commitment. CAS recognizes that investment by providing additional gallery space without charging the regular monthly investment fee for that matched space.
You invest in your base space. You invest your time. CAS matches that investment with additional space.
This shared investment helps CAS maintain the staffing necessary to operate the gallery while giving Studio Artists increased space, visibility, and opportunities for sales and exposure.
Participation in the Match Program is part of the commitment of becoming and remaining a Studio Artist at Camden Art Shoppes.
