About
Aquabun is the whimsical and imaginative work of artist Liana Stadelmann. Liana was born, raised and still resides in the Upstate of South Carolina. has been drawing since the age of three but found her passion with watercolors about seven years ago which is what kicked off her journey into art as a career. All of her life since a very young age Liana has had a huge love of fantasy - mythical creatures especially - and this is where she draws much of her inspiration. Liana’s style is also very influenced by old, turn of the century children’s book illustrations and would describe it as Beatrix Potter with a fantasy twist. Liana is completely self-taught with no formal education - everything she has learned is through her own practice and from watching tutorial and technique videos online! Liana’s specialty are her unique hybrid animal watercolor designs but she also loves to experiment with different mediums such as oil, acrylic, gouache, and colored pencils. She also enjoys creating fanart of animals, critters and characters from cozy wholesome video games and anime! Other art and craft forms Liana enjoys are painting large whimsical landscapes with acrylic and oil on canvas, creating mythical themed handmade jewelry, and most recently hand-embroidering hoop designs and apparel and learning wool needle-felting! Painting and crafting is very fulfilling and relaxing to her and allows her to express her thoughts and interests in a way that has always been difficult to put into words. Her hope is that people feel a moment of joy, comfort and magic in what can be a scary and chaotic world when they view her art.
Art Training
Completely self taught, no formal training. I've been drawing and creating on and off throughout my life since I was 3 years old.
Inspirations & Influences
Examples of influences of my work are classic watercolor children's book illustrations, Lisa Frank, impressionist painters such as Monet and Van Gogh. I am hugely inspired by my love of fantasy, mythical creatures, cryptids and folklore as well as modern influences of japanese anime and culture.
A Little More About Me
When I'm not creating art I greatly cherish time spent with my family and friends. I love going out, traveling and enjoying new experiences (especially if it involves food!). I enjoy working out whether it's weightlifting at the gym, going for a hike or doing some yoga. Other hobbies of mine include reading, cooking, watching movies, and playing my harp!
Goals at Camden Art Shoppes
I am excited to be represented in a gallery of my home state! I hope to inspire and give joy and comfort to those who find my work here and am honored to be a part of a new collective of amazing local artists!
