Lis Anna-Langston is an award winning author, storyteller, multimedia artist, photographer and cultural observer whose work explores love, devotion, and the emotional architecture of everyday life. As multimedia artist her work has been exhibited in multiple venues throughout the US, her films have screened throughout the world and her photography published extensively.

Her novels have won eighteen book awards including the Parents’ Choice Gold, Moonbeam Book Award, Independent Press Award, Benjamin Franklin Book Award and the NYC Big Book Awards. A three-time Pushcart award nominee, 2025 Best American Short Story nominee, she is also a Finalist in the Brighthorse Book Prize, William Faulkner Fiction Contest, George Garrett Fiction Prize and Thomas Wolfe Fiction Award. Her films have been screened and won at film festivals worldwide. She is the 2026 Coker Fellowship winner and a Helene Wurlitzer fellow.

A Little More About Me
Descended from the Eastern band of Cherokee, Lis Anna-Langston was raised along the winding current of the Mississippi River on a steady diet of dog-eared books. She attended a Creative and Performing Arts School from middle school until graduation and went on to study Literature at Webster University and is currently working on her degree in Religion. She has lived in Taos, Asheville, Gettysburg, Pittsburgh, Memphis, Orlando, Miami, and St. Louis.
Her hobbies include: Photography * Gourmet Cooking * Filmmaking * Interior Design * Ancient History * and she is an epic Chinchilla wrangler

Goals at Camden Art Shoppes
To me real art is the ability to see the possibility and also allow room for spontaneity. As an artist, I transform, interpret, captivate. I make notes, sketches, look at the world through the lens of my idea and I dream. After exploring the intellectual aspects of the idea I take the creative road and journey out to where the idea meets reality. Real art is an act of courage, defiance, beauty, rebellion.
Picasso said, “Who sees the human face correctly: the photographer, the mirror, or the painter?”
To that degree I am driven to explore the frameworks of worlds existing outside the confines of time or popular culture. The Photographer, the Mirror and the Painter are all correct and I explore each one. My goals at CAS are in line with this exploration. To grow as an artist, to broaden my scope and to be a part of this amazing community of artists.
