VISION STATEMENT
A thriving creative community where fine art, craft, and storytelling are essential to everyday life.
OUR VALUES
- We 🖐 Make with Purpose –
We value work created with skill, attention and purpose – by hand, heart and mind. - We 🤍 Create with Care –
We believe art restores dignity and connection by nourishing body, spirit, and community through thoughtful practice. - We 🤝 Build Culture Together –
We honor Creatives as equal contributors in shaping Camden’s creative life.
ART
Art is the human practice of creating or shaping things to express ideas, emotions, experiences or ways of seeing the world – often with the intent to communicate, move, question, or connect with others. Art at Camden Art Shoppes nourishes body, mind and community. Art can be seen, held, read, worn, tasted and shared. Creatives shape the culture together. We celebrate makers of images, objects, remedies, and words. Art is not one thing. It is many practices, shared.
Art belongs in everyday life. Handmade. Heartfelt. Human. Art for All.

- The building 1011 Galleria was built in the late 1800s. It has been modified many times. It was a grocery store, Red Cross, Roses, Belks, and many other things. It was renovated by the owner Rob and Karen Brown in 2022 when the river painted on the floor was added. The second and the third floor are banquet facilities. The entrance way mural depicting 1928 Camden was painted by Forrest Fortier and Johna Esterburg. The rest of the murals in the building were painted in 2022 by Colt Shirley.

ALL SALES or COMMISSIONS
If contact started at 1011 Broad Street, either as a conversation or marketing effort of Camden Art Shoppes, the sale falls within the CAS business license. These sales made to a third party must be processed by CAS to ensure proper compliance to tax laws. NO EXCEPTIONS. All credit card/debit card transactions include a 4% convenience fee.
DISPLAY REQUIREMENTS
- All mediums must be approved by the Jury Committee. Only work that has been approved by the CAS Jury at the time of your onboarding may be displayed. If you wish to include additional types of work, you must request jury approval.
- Label your work! Bring your own labels. Business cards work the best. All tags should include:
- Artist Full Name with your name as it is listed in the evieApp (sales system). The default setting is your first and last name.
- Title/Name of Work (clerk will enter this under description when sold)
- Cost (be sure price is clearly written to avoid clerk errors of interpretation)
- Make your tags visible on EACH item. If your work is placed on the River, the Art Stable or the 2nd Floor, use a Camden Art Shoppes tag with designated Shoppes phone number.
- DO NOT overcrowd or extend your work beyond your space.
- DO NOT add additional nails or screws to your space. Wall items should be hung using approved hooks provided by Camden Art Shoppes.
- Hang art with d-rings, wire and professional finish.
- Tie tags to the wire and make them visible – long strings placing tab below item work best.
- DO NOT use saw tooth hangers.
ADDITIONAL STORAGE
- Each creative is assigned a designated storage area.
- Leave a few items in the said location so the space in your area can be filled as sales occur.
- Be respectful as you add and remove items to said location to avoid damage to someone else’s work. If you damage it, you bought it.
OTHER
- The brown chest in the classroom has supplies and tools.
- Most print bins are provided. Others must be approved by CAS. Some wall spaces do not have adequate dept for print bins. There is a large, shared print bin in the shoppes.
- Creatives displaying/selling their work with CAS do so at their own risk. Creatives, if desired, may carry their own liability insurance for theft, damage and destruction.
