About
Josef (Jobey) Berliner believes it is his mission & duty to create a more beautiful world, even if it's just one canvas a a time. His creative path began in childhood, fueled by gifts of sketchpads & instructional books. His talent was recognized early; at just 16, his work was selected for a national touring exhibition of the Scholastic Art Awards which included a stop at the Columbia Museum of Art.
After honing his skills at the University of South Carolina, he took a professional detour & for many years was best known as a nightclub deejay, winning numerous awards & performing at some of the largest & most prestigious venues across the Southeast. However, his passion for visual art never faded.
With the full support of his husband & "most honest critic" Josh, Josef eventually returned to his lifelong dream of becoming a professional artist. This transition led to the founding of his personal brand, Eye-Conic Art Studio.
Beyond the studio, Josef is a contributor to regional & international art scenes. His work has been featured in local community theatre, private collections worldwide, & various gallery shows. He is also a frequent collaborator with organizations including The Jasper Project, Bullets & Bandaids, Artists for Africa, The Greater Irmo Art Guild, & Camden Art Shoppes, among others.

Art Training
Four years of intensive & progressive high school art, some college classes at the University of south Carolina, predominately self-taught.
Inspirations & Influences
My chief artistic influences include Tamara de Lempicka, Salvador Dali & Jan Vermeer. That being said, I continue to learn & glean information, wisdom, & insight from virtually each & every artist I come in contact with, be it of a personal, online, local, national or international sphere
Awards & Recognition
Very few awards to cite. the most recent was second place at the CAS Haunted show.
I have actually entered very few competitions, but hope to rectify that & be able to add more to this list in the future.

A Little More About Me
I have been happily partnered for 33 years (legally married for 12 of them) to the most amazing human I've ever known. Together we have lived throughout the Southeast, now comfortably (& permanently) settled in our beautiful mid-century home in Columbia South Carolina. An avid fan of classic cinema & music, our interests are both numerous & far-reaching, ranging from antiquity to the visions of tomorrow.
Goals at Camden Art Shoppes
My goals at CAS include broadening both my circle of friends & client base, both inside & outside of the artistic community. I feel the venue offers the possibility of recognition not previously available in the ever-expanding community.
