In 2022, a significant archaeological project was undertaken to recover the mortal remains of fourteen soldiers who fought and died on the Camden Battlefield during the American Revolution. The project aimed to honor the sacrifices of these soldiers and provide a dignified reinterment. The archaeological recovery was conducted with great care and attention to detail, and the soldiers were given the utmost respect. The reinterment ceremony will bring together members of the military, historians, and members of the public to pay their respects.
In honor of these fallen heroes, the Camden Art Shoppes will also hold an event on April 20-22, 2023. This art exhibition will include artistic demonstrations, classes, and take-home kits, which will allow visitors to engage with the history and culture of the United States in a creative and meaningful way. This event highlights the broader effort to preserve and honor the memory of these soldiers and to engage the public in promoting the cultural heritage of the country.
