If you haven’t yet made plans to visit Camden Art Shoppes, there is still time to experience the vibrant art exhibition by Wilma Ruth King. On view through September 30, 2025 at the Ten Eleven Galleria, this show brings together a lifetime of experience, travel, and visual storytelling.
About the Artist and Her Work
Wilma Ruth King is a South Carolina native whose artistic vision is shaped by decades of living and working in 11 different states, including Alaska, as well as her rich educational background.
She is more than a painter; her art reflects the intersections of public relations, communication studies, design, photography – all fields in which she has taught over 30 years in institutions ranging from Western Kentucky University to Rochester Institute of Technology, O’More College of Design, Texas Southern University, and more.
King believes art becomes purposeful when it finds universality – when it helps us seek common ground. Her paintings embody that belief: they are not just expressive, but inclusive.
Exhibition Details
When & Where: The exhibit opened in early September and runs until September 30, 2025, at Ten Eleven Galleria, located at 1011 Broad Street, first floor, in Camden, SC. If you make it out, the exhibit offers more than visual pleasure — it’s a chance to connect, to see familiar threads in unfamiliar forms, and to support local arts in Camden.
Reception: On September 4, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, there was a reception celebrating Wilma Ruth King’s work. The gathering was a lively evening of art, conversation, food and drink, and community.

The opening reception was a great success. Many pieces sold during the event, but there are still a few works available for purchase. If you saw something that moved you, there may still be a chance to take it home.
Why You Should Go
Limited-Time Opportunity: Only a few more weeks left to see the full exhibit before it closes on September 30.
Original Works Available: Some pieces remain for purchase — a chance to bring home something unique.
A Story Through Art: King’s work is about more than beauty; it’s about dialogue: about life in many places, teaching, witnessing the world, and inviting viewers into that journey.
What Comes Next
After the exhibit concludes at the end of September, a selection of Ms. King’s art will continue to be visible — hanging on the gallery walls of Camden Art Shoppes. This means even beyond the formal exhibition you’ll have the chance to view some of her work in a more permanent display.
